Westerby Managing Director Steve Harvey with the winners of the Assam Cup

Leicester-based Westerby Group entertained their clients with a day out at the Rutland Polo Club at Langham, near Oakham (Sunday 30 June).

The event included an exciting polo tournament with six teams playing to win the prestigious Westerby Assam Cup. The Westerby Group attended the event as sponsors of the Cup, part of the national Victor Ludorum competition, which is played at different handicap levels. There were six teams from across the country who keenly fought to reach the final of this prestigious trophy.  The teams that reached the final were 3 Oceans and Summit, with Summit coming out the eventual winners by eight goals to seven in extra time.

Westerby Group Managing Director Steve Harvey presented the Westerby Assam Cup to the winning team Summit, watched by a large crowd of spectators who enjoyed the thrilling spectacle under sunny skies.

80 guests including some of Westerby’s clients enjoyed a delicious charity lunch held in a marquee, at the invitation of one of Rutland Polo Club’s founders Vice President, Edwin de Lisle and Mark Vyner, CEO of this year’s chosen charity, Twenty Twenty. A charity auction and donations raised money towards their work that offers help and support to disadvantaged and disengaged young people. The proceedings were opened with a welcoming speech by the Lord Lieutenant of Rutland, Dr Sarah Furness.

Steve Harvey, Managing Director of Westerby Group said: “Once again the Rutland Polo Club delivered a spectacular tournament with the game going to an extra Chukka.  It was great to share the day with our clients and witness the generosity of the guests at the charity lunch who raised a substantial sum for the charity Twenty Twenty.  We would like to thank the Rutland Polo Club for organising a fantastic event and the supporters who came along to enjoy a day of first class sport.”

Edwin de Lisle said: “We are delighted that the Westerby Group continues to support the Rutland Polo Club and their chosen charities.”
